Gaskets

We manufacture gaskets from a wide range of materials from EPDM for water applications to Gylon® for the pharmaceutical and chemical industries.

Our manufacturing capabilities are extensive. We have 10 presses available ranging from 20 to 80 tonnes, and with over 12,000 cutters to choose from, many standard sizes and styles are available without incurring additional tooling costs. (We have practically all standard table cutters and a massive range of "True Bores")

For bespoke designs we now utilise a 2 axis CNC cutter. This enables us to produce complex designs in a variety of materials without the need for sometimes expensive tooling. With the cut being done with a knife there are no laser scorch marks. You can e-mail your designs to us or we can input them directly from your drawings.

For thicker gauges we can cut using a 55000 psi water jet cutter. This allows us to cut up to 100mm without edge deformation, plus with the jet being only 1mm diameter there is very little wastage between cuts.

For large gaskets (Bigger than either roll or sheet size) we can supply them in pieces with dovetail joints pre cut.

Rubber gaskets
For low pressure applications.

Rubber, or synthetic versions are commonly known as elastomers. This type of material is very commonly used as a gasket material for low pressure / low seating stress applications. Elastomers are available from a wide range of materials that will perform in temperature ranges of –60C - +315C. There is usually an elastomer that will perform with most chemical services. See the specification sheets of the elastomers available

Further information:
Common rubber gasket materials available from Munsch & Co include:

  • Fluoroelastomer (Viton®)
  • Chloroprene (Neoprene®)
  • Natural rubber
  • EPDM
  • Nitrile
  • Silicone
  • Butyl
  • Hypalon ®

See the Stocklist for details of the full range of elastomers we carry.

Asbestos free fibre gaskets
For steam, water, oil, fuel, gas & general use.

Since the ban of asbestos based gasketing materials, there has been the introduction of many alternative grades “application specific”. Unfortunately, gone are the days that one material (CAF) is suitable for most services. Please contact W.C. Munsch with your application criteria including “temperature, pressure and the media”. Feel confident that we can offer you a suitable material for your requirements.

Semi-metallic gaskets
High & super high temperature for demanding conditions.

A semi-metallic gasket is a composite gasket, which consists of both non-metallic and metallic materials. The metal generally provides the strength and resilience of the gasket. These gasket types are suitable for both low and high temperature / pressure applications. A wide range of materials are available.
